October 2017 Issues Management
October is Family History Month and our program was presented by Michelle Holland. Michelle is the Executive Director of Preserving Our History, Inc., a not-for-profit historical organization. Preserving Our History is the developer of genealogy curriculum for youth and adult programming and provides historical research, cultural resources management and event planning. Michelle started her own family research in 1974.
In 2001, Congress first passed a resolution introduced by Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, who wrote, “By searching for our roots, we come closer together as a human family.”
Family history enthusiasts continue to celebrate Family History Month every October. Celebrations and programming are held throughout the month and encourage people to research their family histories and become aware of who they are. Michelle has participated in genealogy classes and held many discussions on family history.
