Truth, Myths and Lies: Panel Discussion on Obamacare Act
NSBPW sponsored a panel discussion entitled “Truth, Myths and Lies: The Affordable Health Care Act” at our November meeting. Guest panelists qwew Attorney Shelli Freeland-Eddie from the Freeland-Eddie Law Group and Ray Fusco, Chief Operating Officer with Manatee County Rural Health Services. They discussed the Affordable Health Care Act - which puts consumers back in charge of their health care - and how it impacts individuals. Under the law, a new “Patient’s Bill of Rights” gives the American people the stability and flexibility they need to make informed choices about their health.
Attendees received background information about the Act, the different plans available to them and how to go through the process. A variety of information and literature was made available. ‘There is so much misinformation out there that we believe it is important for consumers, especially in our community, to have access to information on this critical issue so that they can make informed decisions about their health care,” said Glenda Williams, program chairperson. “We need to be able to separate the truths, the myths and the lies about the Affordable Health Care Act.”
